The City of Bend Planning Commission held a “virtual” work session on Monday, April 25, 2022, and you may watch the recorded video which includes a presentation by staff about the proposed amendments (attached) for SB 458 (attached). The amendments to the Bend Development Code (BDC) are primarily for SB 458 which was passed by the Oregon Legislature in 2021. This law requires cities to allow middle housing developments to be subdivided into individual lots for homeownership opportunities. For example, a quadplex could be built on a lot and then split into four smaller lots, each containing one dwelling unit, by using an expedited land division procedure. The proposed amendments also include minor amendments for consistency and clarity.
The Planning Commission will hold a virtual public hearing on Monday, May 9, 2022, at 5:30 pm. for the SB 458 Bend Development Code amendments. You or anyone else may virtually attend the hearing. Attendance instructions will be on the meeting agenda which will be posted at https://www.bendoregon.gov/government/committees/planning-commission prior to the meetings.
The City of Bend will hold a “hybrid” public hearing before the Bend City Council on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. for the proposed SB 458 code amendments. You or anyone else may attend the hearing in person at 555 NE 15th Street, Bend, OR 97701 or virtually (attendance instructions will be posted on the Council agenda at www.bendoregon.gov/councilagenda prior to the hearing).
